2009 DODGE JOURNEY SXT v6 CROSSOVER SUV
There are alot of great features packed into this mid-size SUV-crossover. The Dodge Journey starts under $25k. It packs a 3.5 v6 with third row seat optional, rear air, Sirius radio and power windows/locks/tilt/cruise/cd all standard. There are alot of mid-suv/crossovers in this class including the Mazda CX-7, Acura RDX, Ford Freestyle, Chevy Equinox, and Nissan Rogue. (Watch for the new Toyota Venza coming this fall). Many folks will tell you they like the Dodge Journey because they like sitting up high, having three rows of seats “just in case” and the hatchback is handy for all the “stuff” we schlep around. I agree. Now the Dodge Journey offers all the cool technology of UConnect/Bluetooth, MyGig, Navigation, Back-up cameras, audio controls on the steering wheel, Ipod jacks, rear entertainment, rear heat and air conditioning, side airbags and a decent towing capacity with awd/4wd and you’ve got me hooked. The Dodge Journey R/T packs a 4.0 v6, 17? chrome rims, leather, fog lamps (even though we don’t need them in the desert), and just the right amount of exceleration on demand. If Dodge put a decent lease incentive or low interest rate deal on this rig, I predict it will really take off. The styling is metrosexual with a range-rover back end and high beltline that doesn’t make the side windows look cut like the Dodge Magnum.
Handling is sure footed. The Dodge Journey is roomy, quiet and responsive. Towing capacity is solid and there is a 4wd option for off-roading.
On a scale of 1-10 I’d give it a 9 on features and fulfillment.
My only disappointment is in the area of interior finish (tacky plastic stamping and cheap latches.) and fuel economy.
