The latest Recall or Service campaign information on 2010 Dodge Charger SXT models.

Dodge makes this muscle-car throwback in a variety of engines and option packages including the SXT,R/T and SRT, although the later is rare to find pre-owned, and the 6cyl is heads above the Hemi when it comes to fuel economy.

That said, There are two recalls on the 2009-2010 Dodge Challenger, Charger, Chrysler 300.

One involves spindle nuts and bolts and the other is for a solenoid switch in the ignition which could become stuck, allowing the key to be removed before the vehicle is in Park. The total number of vehicles involved is over 12,000.

Purchasing one of these cars from a dealership would lead many to believe these things have been checked out BEFORE being offered for sale. DO NOT ASSUME SUCH THINGS, even when the dealer is the BRANDED MANUFACTURER.

Sometimes the dealerships do NOT have the replacement parts available at the time of the recall announcement, and if you are purchasing a pre-owned vehicle, you will not be notified of such recalls, as the manufacturer does not search DMV records for current ownership.  If you service with the branded dealership you “may” receive a courtesy notice from the dealer, but you cannot depend on this service either.

• Get yourself on the www.NHTSA.gov recall alert program.
• Ask your dealership if all recall campaigns have been done on the car you want to buy.
