It continues to surprise and outrage me when I read new comments posted here EVERY DAY from irate customers being charged “thousands of dollars” by dealers for “replacement EGR valves, TURBOS, sensors, fuel filters and DPF filter on the DODGE RAM 2500 and Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel 6.7l .
Everyone, including the factory, knows this truck has ongoing problems in all these ares and every piece of it should be covered under warranty, REGARDLESS of how long or how many miles the truck has on it!
PRESIDENT OBAMA insisted the government would stand behind all warranties and parts for CHRYSLER products during and after the Bankruptcy. Now, BILLIONS of dollars later, Chrysler, a privately-held company, is out of reorganization and is still NOT HONORING the warranties on these products. Products FAILING under every conceivable litmus-test of quality production or good faith practices.
Here’s the latest RECALL NOTICE on 2008 and 2009 Dodge RAMS where the steering linkage could FAIL while DRIVING, causing a LOSS OF CONTROL ACCIDENT!
|Nature of Defect:
1. STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
|Vehicle: 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500|
CHRYSLER IS RECALLING 32,865 MY 2008-2009 DODGE RAM 2500, 3500 AND 3500 CAB CHASSIS PICKUP TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH POWERS AND SONS STEERING LINKAGE. THE STEERING LINKAGE DRAG LINK INNER TIE ROD TO PITMAN ARM BALL STUD MAY FRACTURE. ALSO THE STEERING LINKAGE DAMPER ATTACHING THE BRACKET MAY YIELD AND SHIFT ON THE LINKAGE.
|Consequence of Defect:
THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND THE RESTRICTED ABILITY TO TURN THE VEHICLE IN ONE DIRECTION INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING LINKAGE DRAG LINK INNER TIE ROD END ASSEMBLY, AND INSPECT THE STEERING LINKAGE DAMPER BRACKET FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JANUARY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
ASIDE from this being the FIRST recall of ANY LIND on the RAM truck, this DOES NOT CONFRONT the DPF/EGR DIESEL PROBLEMS most Dodge owners complain about: stalling, check engine lights, filter issues etc. CHRYSLER has been known to openly dismiss dealership efforts to submit warranty claims for these well known issues on these trucks, in effect leaving the dealership holding the bag with not even a hint as to how to fix the problem. WHY? because CHRYSLER DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
WHAT CAN DODGE RAM OWNERS with these issues do? Some have filed lemon law actions and successfully mediated to get CHRYSLER to buy their trucks back. With each buyback comes a GAG order, suppressing those with buyback checks from discussing their resolution publicly.
However, now CHRYSLER has a NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Here they are… maybe writing or emailing these professional “directors” will get some light on the problem. Considering they all have some appropriate background for being on this board, they should have the ability to resolve the problem if for other reason than PUBLIC RELATIONS and SALES!!!
