The infamous DPF on the Dodge CUMMINS 6.7L has not shown any signs of improvement for anxious Dodge lovers ever hopeful the factory can fix the host of issues. Among the most noted complaints are constant check engine lights, unannounced loss of power, constant dpf electronics and turbo replacements. In addition, owners have complained about loose fittings, odd smells and dealerships demanding thousands of dollars in repairs for “non-warrantied” items.
Since the 6.7 redesign to meet EPA regulations I have logged over 300 posts on this subject. Hundreds of Dodge owners have requested a LEMON LAW CLASS ACTION and yet, the factory prevails. Judging from the number of requests I get for the MYCARLADY discount on the DPF-r kit, there are thousands of Dodge Cummins owners who have removed the DPF and straight-piped it altogether.
The latest insult is the JD POWERS announcement today, 6/30/09, heralding AMERICAN AUTO MANUFACTURERS having achieved huge customer satisfaction increases against the imports. Yeah, and Toyota held a record 10 top spots in 10 categories. JD POWERS obviously FAILED to survey the thousands of disgruntled DODGE RAM 2500 and 3500 Cummins 6.7 owners with malfunctioning DPF’s! OR maybe the lack of DODGE RAM CUMMINS 6.7 Diesels sold the last two years didn’t click with the survey folks, reflecting the drop in Dodge trucks sold by loyal Cummins fans who shunned the DODGE diesel product after doing their online research.
The JD POWER survey is misleading to potential truck buyers. The 2010 version of the Cummins holds little hope for those waiting for the factory to fix the problems. In either case, don’t buy a Dodge 2010 because JD POWERS says Chrysler’s product is improving… You’ll likely become one of the many posters listed here.————————————————————————- NEED AUTO FINANCE HELP or CREDIT report repair go to www.ecreditautoadvisor.com tell them MY CARLADY: Sarah Lee sent you. Being an ’08 owner of a 2500 Megacab, I feel everyone else’s pain concerning the DPF fiasco. CEL’s and bucking are the norm on my rig with only 30K on it. I drive it hard and always have the exhaust brake on when I can. Doesn’t seem to fix anything except annoy me more! Can I get the DPF-R kit discount? Thanks, CJ

My 2010 is also a fuel hog. I am going to cut all e3xhaust off and chip same. To h_ll with the warranty! My son did his exhaust and got 5 MPG increase immediately! Dodge does not give a crap!!

I totally agree that the dpf has just about ruined the 6.7 dodge engine.
even when you change the engine oil it will be dulited within less than 500 miles. can’t even tell it was changed after a service.
I was getting 9.o pulling my 5th wheel to montana and back. When in town and just short drives 10 max. I removed the dpf left the cat and nox filters. Plate under egr, remove gear from intake throttle plate secure to open position.
I now can go 4000 miles between oil changes even with exhaust brake being used. When I change oil now it stays clean, not black soot. I now get 11.7 towing my 30ft 5th wheel. in town 13.5 to 14. hiway long drives 25 miles, 22 to 24 mpg depends on traffic. I just got back from a trip through Glacier, Yellowstone, and grand tetons 3300 miles. never had a code.
I run a edge w/attitude. set for 15 sc to clear all codes.
Befor I would have to wait 20 t0 30 sec for exhaust to drop below 450 degrees. Now the exhaust temp is always running 150 to 250 degrees lower, never keeps runing when turned off now.
I would not trade it for anything. What a super towing truck and apleasure to drive for evry day use without worries of having running problems. I never see any black smoke when towing or just driving, richard
