July 2, 2008– CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT for Dodge Cummins 6.7 Diesel owners? There are many 2007 and 2008 Dodge 2500 and 3500 Cummins 6.7 owners fed up with the chronic issues they have experienced with the new technology of their Dodge trucks. In writing this post I have been besieged with requests for assistance and guidance regarding the constant check engine light, stalling and numerous other complaints you can read in the back history of this blog.
Last week I received two comments asking if I knew of a lawyer or lawsuit that addressed the common complaints. I do not. However, in my research I have found that while the laws in each state differ regarding LEMON LAWS for new vehicles, there are some attorney’s that specialize in such litigation, looking closely at the potential for such an action.
As many of you know, there is a third party arbitration agreement often signed at the time of purchase, or included in your package of ownership materials. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look in your owners manual kit, paperwork from the day of purchase or call your sales person.
If you think there is merit in such a call to action, please send me a comment. I’ll forward the information to those owners considering such an effort. I’m not sure what will come of it, since the NHTSA has yet to call for a full out recall, but nothing can happen, if no one speaks up. SO, feel free to sound off here, and maybe Dodge will listen and respond to your cries for help.
I have had many folks report they have taken the EGR and DF Poff, or modified it, regardless of the factory response, and things are better. However, IMHO, when you spend 50k for a truck, you shouldn’t have to modify it and void the warranty, to make it run the way you intended to use it.
NEWS FLASH LAWSUIT UPDATE: As of Jan. 27, 2010 a class-action lawsuit has been filed. go to: to read more:

I purchaced a 07 Dodge 2500 Megacab with a 6.7 Cummins Diesel @ October of 07.
Since my purchase I have put about 15,000 mi on the truck. The best mpg I have
gotten is @ 15. Also my speedometer is @ 4 mph fast, which results in my mpg to be
even lower than 15mpg. My engine light came on @ 10,000 mi. I took the truck in for
service and reported the engi

engine light and the truck was getting poor fuel milage. They reprogramed my computer and said there was nothing they could do about the poor milage. Now at 15,000 mi the truck starting missing and then the water in fuel light came on. I called the dealer I purchased the truck from and told them my problem. They told me to call the roadside assistance #. I called and they picked up my truck and took it to the closest dealer. Which is not the dealer I purchased the truck from. They looked the truck over, called me, and stated that I had water in my fuel. Now they tell me warranty does not cover this problem and it will cost me $18,000 to repair the truck.
Also, if I don’t let them fix the truck, my warranty will be void. They said there was rust in my fuel lines and injectors which are all after my fuel filter. My argument is why did the fuel fiter stop the rust and water. I also called the dealer I purchased the truck from for advise because they have a “lifetime warranty” but they also said they would not warranty the truck. I agree that there may be water and rust in my fuel tank. But why would that result in a $18,000 repair bill every time you get bad fuel. I do not want a truck that results in this situation. I need some advise I’m stressed out about this! Please call 601-938-3745 Thanks

THe truck has had check engine light on for all but 3,000 miles of the 20,000 that are now on the truck. i’ve had two dpf’s, turbo take down and cleaning. The fuel usage has run better than 10 mpg differance at times. The motor makes oil, and is now blowing it out valve cover. The overhead computer is a joke, it has consistently gave false information. I have had the truck towed back three times to the dealer as the truck was belching black smoke. The overhead read “systems ok” on all three episodes. The truck has engine rev periods, and hiccups or engine misfiring at idle to highway rpm’s I am afraid to drive it where i might encounter stop and go trffic, as it usually runs very hot. this coupled with the dpf clogging usually results in a tow back to the dealer. This is the third dodge used by our family, with 20,000 on the truck if Chrysler offered a free lifetime bumper to bumper I would still look to rid myself of this nightmare.

I have a 2007 with 18,000 miles, check engine light is always on, 2 different codes, EGR and Turbo failure. Looks like this is a normal problem for a $55,000 truck, sorry isn’t it?

I have a 2008 Ram 2500 6.7 it has 32,000 miles on it.My check eng. light came on
after 3000 miles and would go off, than it stop going off so I took it to the dealer i got it
from and was told the I had carbon build up in the motor and turbo, this truck is haveing that problem.I got a call after the next day and was told that I has trash in my fuel system and everthing needed to be replace @ a cost to me $4500.I told them that it must be a problem with the filter system because the filter should catch the trash before it get that far, after a few days they call and said Dodge would be respondsible
for part of the damage but i still owe $1200.It’s not right, it is sorry.

I have 08′ 6.7L dodge with 10,005 miles and also lucky winner of P2262 code. I took truck to Dodge in Houston,Tx and has been there for 4 days and has not even been looked at Yet. After talking to 5 people in Chrysler Customer Service, who all told me they can’t give me a loaner or rental, I finally was given a rental. They will pay $35.00 a day for only 3 days. What has been people’s luck going down the road I’m about to travel????? Any help will be appreciated, as I know this is going to be a continuing problem. And, I always use the engine brake anytime the truck is running.

I think there might be someone in the Conroe, Tx area filing a class action lawsuit on this very issue. Hopefully this will pave the way for something positive. Or at least a fix to this crappy situation.

I have a 07 1 ton purchased Oct 07, new transmission (6 days in shop)8000 miles, Thermostat replaced (in and out of shop for 2 months before they fixed started at 7000 miles fixed at 10000), & Now turbo acting up 12000 miles. I was told I need to drive truck harder. What a piece of junk. Will ask dealer for new turbo Monday from what I have read on the web. If not I will talk to a lemon law lawer.

I have a 2007 dodge with a 6.7 cummins. It has been in the shop now for 2 months. The truck has less than 11,000 miles on it. They have replaced the turbo twice, and now they are taking a turbo out of a new truck on there lot to see if that one will work. The first turbo they put in lasted less than 30 miles, the second one didn’t even make it out of the shop. They didn’t know how to fix it so they left it parked in there back lot. Now I’m trying to get them to buy it back. They do not want to do that so they are trying a turbo out of a new truck. The truck also had electrical problems that are suposedly fixed (I can’t verify this as I have not seen the truck in almost two months).

I have an 07 6.7 L cab and chassis. I use it for work so I am not eligible for the lemon law, however I am taking action into my own hands. I have had my truck in the shop numerous times with no solutions. Last week they told me they had NO idea how to fix it or what was wrong with it and no other 3500 trucks are having this problem. It has been in the shop since Friday, August 9th for the fourth injector failure. They are now replacing the remaining two that have not gone yet. After 109,000 miles and dozens of trips to the dealerships to clear codes for low pump pressure and low fuel rail pressure among others that have resulted in check engine light remaining on since first injector being replaced at 32,000 miles. Overhead computer chimming twice every 10-12 miles with message reading see dealer now service required. First problem with DPF occured 2 miles after the latest computer upgrade available at approx 64,000 miles when power and torque was decreased by the truck computer. This truck has been such a headache. I have owned 4 dodge 3500 diesels since 2001 with combined mileage over 750,000 miles, never having problems like I am having now. The warranty on my truck expired on July 1, 08 since the middle of June the truck has gone down 3 times on the road due to injector failures, service department informed me that Chrysler last week had no solution to fix the problems. There is nothing further they could do, I will be on a warranty by review basis. They said they would take care of my problems, after three days of extensive tests and truck passing all the tests they claim I have dirty fuel due to contamination from fuel sites and at 30,000 psi their excuse is particulates in the fuel are sandblasting the injectors and they will not cover anything further. After questioning if I change my fuel filter and if I use genuine mopar fuel filters (which I do and I change them every 12,000 miles instead of every 15) They have suggested that I get an after-market fuel filter that is better than theirs. The fuel sample they took from the truck was from the return line and the tech said they should have never gone through the filter. If you would like to contact us email me at or 304-265-2234, we look forward to hearing from you. If you are reading this beacuse you are looking for a Dodge truck to purchase I seriously think you should reconsider.

I bought a 2008 2500 diesel in January. Just want to add my name to the list, have had my truck in for the check engine light issue ( carbon build up) 3 times so far & have an appointment for next week again. I would like to avoid losing my waranty, so I will continue to take it in for servicing. They offered to tow the truck in and pay for a loaner to be sent to me. This has to be costing Chrysler bug bucks. Seems like they would find a permanent solution to protect themselves.

I purchased a 08′ 2500 4×4 6.7 crapy diesel febuary of this year. The check engine light came on at about 3500 miles I believe. After a new turbo and many trips back to the dealership for clean out of emission system, re-coding of the coputer sytem, re-calls…ect. on and on everyone has had the same thing it is very clear after reading the blogs. I actually got mine bought back today with 25,000 miles on it. I purchased a gass engine this time that was far more less expensive but low and behold I financed the new one for the same amount of months and guess what even though the new one cost less, my mothly payments went up after they got done with the pencil whipping of mile deductions and what ever else…. I think it sucks that they can get away with this….. Good ol BINDING ARBITRATION protecting crooks is what it is and it sucks.
I have relatives that has the same truck with higher miles than I had and they will not buy their trucks back, I wonder why it is hit and miss on which ones they are buying back, And I can tell You if they do agree to buy it back You will be dealing with ISG which is a middle person company that Dodge is using there phone #800-215-6230 X 500 will get You to the operator. Must be alot of them being bought back here in Texas cause it took almost 2 whole months for me to get a new truck. Any questions call me at 214-926-2882…. Keep the pressure on them cause what comes around goes around……….

I have an 07 Dodge 2500 6.7 that I purchased the 30 of June 07 its 4X4 with 6 speed manual and like every one ells at around 3500 miles they replaced a turbo said that it had a sticky vain. At around 8000 miles there was a factory recall for an oxygen sensor the recall said that sensor could fail with out getting a check engine light it took me a month or so to get it taken care of since the dealer had to order the part and I was kind of leery a bought taking it in after the turbo replacement and computer upgrade the truck has just never felt like it has the power that it had before that. The dealer has been grate about trying to rectify the problem but I am worried a bought what happens after the warranty runs out. I have 22500 miles on it now and it has been back 4-5 times for check engine lights resulting in computer up grades and cat and particulate filter replacements and I was told that I was not driving it hard enough there may be something to that the other day my daughter grand daughter and I took a little trip to the mountains. On the way there is a pass that is quite steep especially near the top. I have been over that pass many times in various vehicles even on a 750 cc motorcycle this Dodge is the first time that I made it all the way in high gear and at 65 MPH. The engine temp did come up a bit about 210 F but when we got to the mountains and after stopping for lunch when I fired it back up the check engine light was off and it staid that way for a couple days until I started off to work a couple afternoons later and just a bought 600-800 ft after leaving my driveway it came on again so I kicked it in the but ran it about 105 MPH red line on the teach for the way mine is geared for about 12-14 miles and after work when I fired it up again the light was off. I wonder what the Highway Patrol would say if I tell them that the dealer told me that I have to do this every couple of days or so to keep my check engine light off ???
Comment by Robert Thomas — 09/01/2008 @ 12:52 am
Same problems any help? My check light come on almost out of the lot. Same lines of B.S. cleaned turbo of carbon, cleaned exhaust temp sensor, verified boost pressure with scan tool, cleared all exhaust soot from exhaust aftertreatment, cleared codes and test drove. That seems to be funny because my odometer read 827 miles in and 827 miles out.

I purchased a new 2007, 2500 4 x 4 in November 2007. Well I took my truck back to the dealer on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 5 weeks and 3 days ago for the 4th time. The same problems that everyone else has had however the dealer will not even install the new parts to fix my problem until Dodge authorizes it. THEY CAN’T EVEN GET A RESPONSE FROM DODGE!!!!! I am wore out calling customer service. They do not have the ability to get anything done. I have 31,000 miles on my truck and do not know if they are ever going to fix it. I purchased an 08 ram 3500 in Canada. It only has 6000 kms on it and has had the turbo cleaned out once and the light just came on again. I also had the overhead computer telling my to see the dealer two other times. The dealership says the fix is to keep cleaning it out. It has spent more time with some sort of light on than off. Let me know if anything is happening for Canadian trucks.

FYI
I did some checking on the internet about Lemon Laws. I found a company that is more then willing to look at my situation.
Alex Simanovsky & Associates. LLC
Consumer Protection Attorneys
1800-865-3666 Ext 1017
http://www.autolemonlaws.com
I contacted them last week and sent them some specified documents. Today they called me and informed me that I have a could enough claim to send in.
The best part is I will be charged no Attorneys fees. Of course there are not guarantees. My truck has been in the shop for 23 days total in the last year. I’m not a satisfied buyer and Chrysler will not return my call about my concerns.
Not looking to hammer anyone hard just want a good reliable truck.
Good luck to you fellow 6.7 owners

I just re-read my blog. Let me clarify. No Attorney Fees will ever be charged to you for legal representation if they determine you have a claim worth filing.

Have had a 2007 6.7l diesel dually since April of 2007. I’ve had trouble with it not starting on a number of occasions, and once the radio refused to work. These things seemed to right themselves.
Then i was away for 12 days and when i got back the battery was dead. When i got the battery charged it blew fuses.
Head office techs in Windsor, ONtario are blaming me and refuse to warranty the work —-$6500.00 worth.
Any suggestions??

Bought my 6.7 last October and have been really disapointed with it. Have had the same problems as everyone has posted and a few others. Two times everything electral has quit. Remote would not unlock doors and truned key on and nothing would work, had to disconnect battery to reset computer. Another time the overhead said 80% full then 45 seconds later said 90% full then another 45 seconds and 100% full. Turned the key off and back to normal. Sometimes it runs really rough under 1500 rpm, turn the key off and back to normal again. Didn’t know I was going to have to spend $50,000 for something I had to work on. If Dodge doesn’t take care of this I will never own another Dodge again. I will be glad to particapate in any action taken……

We have had problems with our 2007 6.7 cummings Dodge truck. Right now it has been in the shop for a week and the story keeps changing on what’s wrong with it. By the way, we just got it out of the shop a week before this and having paid $900 for repairs. This time the story keeps changing on what’s wrong with it. At this point now they are saying it’s contaminiated fuel and our warranty is void and it will cost $17,500 to fix it. We asked them shouldn’t the filter keep it from totally destroying the engine but they won’t give any satisfactary answer. We would like to know if anyone has a suit or is thinking about a suit to bring against Dodge because I would love to join it!

All the same problems as above. 2007 6.7 chassis cab now with 44500 miles on it. It has been in 3 different dealers 5 times for a total of over 35 days out of service. Count me in for a class action. Does anyone know if deleting the DPF voids the warranty? Has anyone has experience with the DPF delete? Does it work? I just want a truck that works and doesn’t cost me time and money when I can’t use it.

I have done the deletes on my 07.5, did the EGR and the DPF, made a world of difference and i have had no problems since, and yes it will void the waranty but with these things gone i dont forsee any issues at all so its worht it in my opinion

I haul rv’s around the country. I have a 6.7 diesel dodge and have had in dealerships 9 times starting at 5,000 miles all over the united states. I now have 145,000 miles and am out of business because of EGR and Catalytic problems. They just clean it out for $800 – $900/ call and send me on my way. I have been driven into bankruptcy because of this truck. All they do is treat the symptoms and not solve the problems. Catalytic converter has been replaced, the turbo charger replaced. I have complaind to dodge about having to keep paying to fix the same problem every 5k 10 miles. Its nothing but fraud for them to sell these trucks.

Fuel milleage was terrible but found air filter was cruded although senser showed ok. I did K & N filter and mileage improvement jumped immeadiately. What do I need to be looking for?

I purchase a new 2007 3500 dodge with the 6.7 liter, I have had it in the shop 9 times for the check engine light, and all these were because of the new emmisions particulate filter system. I have purchased low sulfur fuel, maintained the oill changes, but to no avail.
I have had constant problems with this emmision system were the particulate filter plugs up constantly causing more fuel to be injected into the particulate and causing very poor fuel mileage, allong with carbon suit residue on the bed of the truck from the exhaust. The last 3 visits to the dealership would get the light turned off just to have the light come back on with days after. I spent $41,000 on the truck and has been nothing but a nuesance with having to have dealership visits on a regular basis. I have a 2002 dodge with the 5.9 liter, and have never had a problem like this. I would like to know if there is anything that can be done about this, cause the dealership desk also recognize that this is an issue that is wide spread also, knowing that I’m not the only one with this problem tells me that someone with dodge needs to take action if they want to keep loyal customers!

My first post on this issue was through this site on another forum. That was in January 2008. The problems started a few months prior that so we have been dealing with this issue for over a year now. We are still having problems with the check engine light. Just last we took the truck in AGAIN, they replaced the whole turbo AGAIN and as we drove off a few miles down the road, the light came back on. We took the truck back to the dealer and they say it’s a faulty part with the turbo but it’s on back order and they can’t give us a date when they expect it in.
We are FED UP with dealing with this. We pay $800 a month for this truck and we have to take it in about once a month. NOT WORTH OUR MONEY OR TIME. Please – if anyone has advice on how we should move forward, referral to an attorney, advice on how to file lemon law in California – we’d love to hear from you. Our email is williams04@sbcglobal.net.

Hello everyone,
My husband and I have been having all of the same issues with our 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Cummins. We have been in and out of the dealership, replaced 2 turbos, had a turbo cleaning done, and multiple software updates. Check engine light is on again…
We live in California and I’m not sure how other states laws are, but here you cannot smog and register your vehicle while the light is on. I am afraid once my warranty expires I am going to be left with a serious problem on my hands. It’s already been a problem as far as how much time and money I have spent dealing with this issue.
I have contacted a lawyer and they tell me first thing I have to do is write a letter to the corporation stating my problem and what I’ve done to try to rectify the situation. I am in the midst of pulling together all of my documentation and with it I am going to send them a copy of this blog.
If any of you would like to add your own letter, please feel free to send me an email with attachments to williams04@sbcglobal.net and I would be happy to include it with my letter. I feel our voices together will be louder and maybe we will be heard without having to take it to the next step…class action lawsuit.
Best regards,
Jesse & Sarah Williams

I also have a 2007 ram with 6.7 diesel. I have had engine light problems after 5000 miles, Told it was a computer problem. Had egr valve plug up, catalytic plug up several times, even replaced, I now have 156k miles and still problems with emissions equipment plugging off. Dealerships just unplug it- charge $1000 and never fix it- they only treat the symptoms not solve the problem. Didn’t Dodge do any reliability tests on this truck before they sold 1000′s to the public?? I have had this truck into dealerships 12 times for emissions related problems across this country. I was told that this truck would last 400k-500k miles. What a lie!! I am willing to join a law suit when it comes up. I am tired of paying $1000 each time it plugs up every few 1000 miles.

I have an 07 6.7 witch i bought bran new in 08. i have had 4 powersteering pumps put in and im on my second cluch in less than a month. my first power steering pump went out at 8000 miles and dodge told me that they were on back order for 6 months so i had to get an aftermarket. They told me that i could leave it sit there for 6 months if i wanted. Now i us my truck at work and i dont feel that i should have to leave my new truck with them for that long. now i have 29,000 miles and my cluch went out the week before chirstmas and less than a month later it is back in because the cluch is out again and now the parts are on back order again. I cant deal with my truck being gone because they gave me a mini van and i cant pull my trailer with that. i dont knw what to do if someone has any information that can help me out my email adress is thank u

I’ve had my 6.7 Two years. Also been in the shop a number of times for emissions. I bought a Bully Dog chip, There is a program that seems to help burn unused carbon out of the system. But, now its in the shop because the ABS, Check Engine, are on, and the speed odometer has quite. I replace sensor on the 3rd member, did not fix it. Now there saying a part in the rear end may be out. I agree the 6.7 is junk. What I would give to have my 05 5.7 back.

Bought a 2007 Dodge 2500 with the 6.7 diesel and this truck is a piece of junk. I was left on the side of I-20 on the way to El Paso TX with black soot boiling out the exhaust. With 20,000 mi no roadside assistance from Chrysler in the shop for a month cleaning out soot. Was mislead about truck when I purchased it you cannot idle the truck like other diesels and I bought it for that purpose to run a generator. I have had 8 recalls and the truck will not start most of the time the engine light stays on and the dealership says they don’t know how to fix it. I paid $39,000 for it and 8 months later could not get $12,000 trade in from dodge on it. I welcome any class action lawsuit, maybe thats why they have taken the stimulus money knowing their going to be sued. Either way we’re screwed.

6.7 owner and have been at the dealer so many times i have a coffee cup on the shelf. 60000 miles and so far each time i take it in there seems to conveniently be something wrong thats not under warranty and the dealer continues to come up with deals that cost me money. seems as though taking it to them for oil changes would help me with my 100000 mile warranty. have always owned fords and will never own another dog. hope a buy back is in the makings.

I bought an ’08 4500 cab/chassis tow conversion 11/08 for over $50K and starting in April ’09, it was at the dealer for over two months until it was finally fixed under warranty. First I was told I had water in the fuel and I asked “show me” since the separator was dry and the light never came on. They couldn’t, and then they found metal shavings in the fuel tank. They said it’s not covered under warranty and I should make an insurance claim. I responded that you haven’t established from where the metal files originated so you have no claim that it’s not warrantable. However, they have the power to deny warranty work and I really can’t do much about that short of legal action. When they learned of legal action, they quickly fixed it under warranty although a memo I perhaps was not supposed to receive from a Chrysler rep claims it’s not a warranty repair and that it is not warrantable in the future for a similar claim. The Chrysler rep believes one of the fuel pumps was damaged and produced the metal shavings. The vehicle sat at the dealer for over a year until I bought it and probably moisture condensed in the fuel tank and, although not enough to set off the water separator light, caused damage to the gear pump. Right now it’s in the shop for a leaking radiator. It has less than 17k miles! Still not sure what I’m going to do about this matter. I have no use for it anymore.

I have a 2008 Dodge w/ 34,400 miles on it and Chrysler just rejected my warranty claim to have the dpf fixed today. This is the first issue I have had with this truck, have a 2007.5 with the 6.7 and the dpf got clogged within the first 2000 miles. Chrysler is looking for any excuse to void warranties now. The mechanic told me they get at minimum 5 trucks a week with clogged dpf and now they are denying warranties on atleast 50%. It is not the dealership that denies the warranty it is Chrysler. I have already talked to my lawyer and am filing a suit on them. It is sad they accept the bail-out money then deny warranties left and right. They don’t mind taking our tax-paying dollars but don’t want to fix a junker of a truck they make now. I am very very dissapointed with the fuel economy of these 6.7 and the problems everyone is having with the dpf. Feel free to e-mail me your information for when we sue. josh846@hotmail.com.

I have a 2007 Dodge 3500 and I too have had multiple returns to dealerships for the DPF and have tried to request Chrysler to offer me some kind of extended warranty to continue to cover further problems and they have refused. I currently have 58900 on vehicle. It has been in shop 10-12 times, only to run for a couple of weeks then return right back. Most recently it has started to stall on the roadway and once on a highway. I have lost all trust in my truck and Chrysler/Dodge. I am currently looking for an attorney to file suit or if anyone knows of one that is willing to file a class action, I would gladly participate. I can be contacted at .

2008 6.9 Diesel Megacab- I too suffer from the problems with the 6.9.
7 miles-OS sensor replaced, 10000 – OS sensor replaced, 15000-Turbo replaced, clean turbo exhaust tube, new flash, 18000-Turbo replaced, clean tet, 20000-light on, Dealers says just drive it unless poor power, rough idle, 47000- surging from 800 to 1500 rpm at red lights, heavy white smoke, loss of power, Overhead console says “Regeneration in Progress”, then red light on dash “Fuel”. Overhead said something about “fuel”. Then total loss of power, died in middle of freeway. Able to get to shoulder, where a police car had to push me up a hill and then coast downhill to get to a safer area to wait for wrecker. Towed to Tomball Dodge, near Houston, 7-21-2009. I explained that I am scheduled to leave Houston at 6 am,7-23, and could they please attend to this truck asap. Ok, I was told. Today, 7-22, I stopped by to check the progress. Truck still sitting where wrecker dropped it. Go to service writer, and ask what’s up with my truck? Don’t Know yet, he says.” We have about 3 or 4 ahead of you, and we only have 2 diesel mechanics.” So, I ask, same problem as mine? Yep, he says, and it usually takes them all day to do one truck.! So I ask, did you or do you not understand, I need this truck by this afternoon in order to load for my business trip to Nashville, Tn. He says yes but there is nothing he can do for me. I then ask for a loaner truck as I need to haul some equipment to a convention in Nashville. No, but I can rent one. Then I was told he would try to contact me this afternoon with some news but no call.
I have contacted Chrysler and have been issued a case number. I am curious to whether all repairs will be covered under my existing engine warranty, which is around 53000 miles left. Or will I too be faced with a ridiculous repair bill and some stupid excuse of it being the customers fault.
I should have kept my 2005, 5.9 that I traded in for the problems I now have.
When I told the service writer, this one may be a buy back truck when all is said and done, he just shook his head, YES.
I am all in for a class action suit as well….

We are also the lucky owners of a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7 liter nightmare Dodge calls a “quality product.” We bought it used, but with full warranty, and we purchased an extended warranty 100,000 bumper to bumper in January 2008. My first engine light came on in April 2008 and the sevice center told me “it’s nothing to worry about, these trucks just do that.” They told me it could be my gas cap, or 200 other little things, and it should resolve itself. They told if it ever starting blinking, then to worry. Stupid me believed them and continued driving this piece of crap they call a truck. In June 2008 the light continued to stay on, and we were going on vacation to New Mexico so I made an appointment to have it looked at for my peace of mind before the trip. They told us it was the O2 sensor but good news, it was a recall and it was going to be fixed. They replaced the O2 sensor and told us were were good to go, no more problems. We drove to New Mexico the first of July and the engine came on and stayed on in Roswell. We continued our vacation, the light stayed on. When we returned home, I called the service department, they were 6-8 days backlogged, but I could drop it off and they might get to it in the next two weeks. This truck is my only means of transportation, I do have a job and two children, and my husband works 4 hours out of town. I can not leave it for 2 weeks. I was told then that they don’t give loaner vehicles or rentals. I was out of luck. I couldn’t be without a vehicle indefinately, so I kept driving it. I made it until August 2008 and it completely shut down on me—no engine power, no transmission power and lights screaming everywhere. I was towed into the dealer at 5:30 p.m. They again gave me a “were sorry but no rental until it is diagnosed” and that will be 2 weeks if your lucky. I have $300.00 worth of groceries melting in the 105 degree Texas August heat, a two year old and seven year old child, and you are leaving me stuck at the dealership. I had a fit and demanded the service manager better find me a car. After crying and screaming, they managed to get a rental. The trucks stayed in the shop over a week and it was all the emission filters, sensors, and the turbo that had to be replaced. I drove it again until October 2008, and once again the turbo shut me down. It was cleaned and fixed once again. At this point the service manager told me I needed to watch a DVD to show me how to drive this truck properly. Oh excuse me, I thought I only had to turn on the key and put it in drive like every other diesel truck we have owned in the past 15 years. They told me to use my exhaust brake everytime I turned it on, not to use my cruise control, not to let it idle and it needed more highway miles. I drive 82 miles a day on the highway at 75 mph to go to work. I do not idle except at stop lights, and what the hell does my cruise control have to do with the engine working properly????? They are grapsping at straws, but I agreed to try their suggestions. I made it until February 2009, engine light on, stalling——suprise, again it is the emission and turbo acting up and needing to be cleaned. I asked the service manager if I needed to plan on coming in every couple of months or 5000 miles and just having it cleaned. He said, no, it would “red-flag” my warranty, and they were doing everything Chrysler could find to fix this problem. My last problem is now a mystery to the service center. I had to be towed in on July 9 for no engine power, could not get to 30 mph, transmission would not shift, no RPM’s on engine, it lurched forward, then stammered and stalled like it was going to die. I called a tow truck and was towed in again to the dodge service center. They couldn’t look at it until July 10, but “worked me in” and could not duplicate the problem. The computer showed nothing and the vehicle now was not doing it. They told me it might be my transmission, but too bad for me my transmission went out of warranty at 36,000 and we had 46,000 on it. They could look into the transmission but at our expense. We told them no, since they didn’t even know for sure it was the transmission. We had a meeting with the service manager and told him we didn’t feel safe in that vehicle and if they couldn’t fix it, we simply did not want it back. He thought we had a good case with all the service issues and offered to talk to the general manager about a trade-in, buy back deal. At first the GM said, “yes, do what ever it takes to make them happy” The service manager told us to take the vehicle, it was mechanically sound and they checked all systems. We could drive until we found a comprable trade. It might be a transmission issue, but they didnt know that for sure. We took it July 11. I drove it 80 miles July 12, then another 100 miles July 13 and it shut down on me again. No engine power, would not go over 30 mph and lurched and stuttered like it was going to die. I was in Brady, Tx about 100 miles from San Angelo where the dealer is, so I drove it back to them acting up the entire way. Just my luck, at the dealership, no computer codes and it won’t do it for the technitian. I told them to keep the piece of shit, I didn’t want it back. I went to talk to the general manager, he was on vacation. The salesman told me they would give us $17,000 trade in, but those trucks just weren’t worth anyting with the old body style and all the mechanical issues. You sure could sell it to us for $33,000 16 months ago, but now it just isn’t worth anything. What a business they have going.
I went back to service center and threw another fit to get a rental car to get my son back to a baseball tournament we were in, and had to cry, scream, cuss and almost throw up to get a 24 hour rental approved. I was on the phone with Chrysler service center, and thought I was making some head way because they offered to cover a rental for 6 days and see about paying my towing expenses. I got a rental, and left town in a little go-cart of a car, but at least it would run. Better than my $30,000 truck!! The dealer kept the vehicle until July 20 and was never able to duplicate the problem or get a computer code. There was mention of the fuel contamination, and fuel samples were taken, so thank goodness that wasn’t the case. They did determine they symptoms were very similar to a wiring issue and the replaced a wiring harness going to the valve covers. I should be thrilled to know that that was a warranty item and it would be covered. Do I trust that they fixed the problem? Hell NO. Do I trust to put my children back into that unsafe piece of shit they call a a “quality” vehicle? Hell NO. Am I going to lose $14,000 to the dealer on a bad trade in? Not All-American Dodge of San Angelo. They will not make one more penny off of us. I have filed a formal complaint with Chrysler (not that does any good) and a complaint with Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, and with the Texas Department of Transportation for lemon law evaluation. We have been told there is a 99.9% chance we don’t apply for lemon law because it was sold as a “used” vehicle and Texas Lemon law won’t cover used vehicles. Even though we bought it with 7311 miles, 6 months old, and under full factory warranty. Once again, the customer gets screwed. I am waiting to hear on the lemon law verdict. We would love to join a Class Act suit if there is one out there. Right now our last option is to trade it in at the Ford dealership, loose the $14,000 downturn, and get into a Ford F250 that will actually run. We paid $33,000 and got 40,000 miles and 16 months out of this truck—–what a deal Dodge has for it’s customers. We traded in a 1997 Ford F250 with 230,000 miles because my husband was afraid I was going to start having problems with the old Ford. What I wouldn’t do to have that old Ford back. My husband drives a 1999 Ford F250 with 340,000 miles on it and has been in the shop two times for minor repairs. Now who makes the quality product??????I don’t think it is Dodge. I wish I had spent my $33,000 on another Ford.
I did pick up the Dodge and it is parked with two large “advertisment” signs on it. One adversises for Dodge, the other for All-American dodge of San Angelo.
Please contact us if there is a Class Action out there, we would love to join. Our email

I have had a check engine light since 1800 miles and each time I take it to the dealership and all they say is that it is an emissions problem and they update the computer, but the problem is still on going and I now have 67,000 miles on it which by the way is a 2007 6.7 cummins. I’ve owned 2 other 5.9′s and never once had problems. Now my perform service indicator overhead is on.The problem is a filter above the valve cover and will cost 350.00 and has been on back order for a week now,and has to be changed every 60,000 miles ,how stupid is that! As for the lemon law in florida just try to get a lawyer we tried for a year with no luck.I really hope there will be a lawsuit in the very near future and I would be the first aboard. This is not a dodge problem but a cummins problem so until the cummins folks admit to that, a lawsuit is probably not gonna happen. If ya’ll here something please email me at GFC1996@FRONTIERNET.NET—-thank-you

I have an ’08 3500 with 34500 miles on it. I’ve had it back 14 times for service. 2-turbos, EGR valve, EGR cooler, oxygen sensors, and various other electrical problems. Mileage is no better than @ 13mpg, and the truck is a dog. I just got it out of service after being at the dealer for 3-weeks, and it has to go back as soon as they can get some new parts for the EGR system. I have filed a Lemon Law Claim and am hoping to either get it bought back or get enough cash to buy me a good ’06 or early ’07 dually with a 5.9 in it. It’s a shame that the EPA caused Chrysler and Cummins to screw-up a good truck. If anyone is interested in a Class Action Suit, contact me at: cooperharold42@yahoo.com

I have ’08 6.7L and have been in the shop more than any vehicle I have every had – know the folks there by name. All my problems to date have been emissions related. Getting my first turbo replacement next week @ 21.5K miles. Not happy with the vehicle and worried given big $ items likely to fail. 1) can’t idle – what about traffic & warm up 2) supposed to run exhaust brake all the time – what about rain & snow 3) abismal milage vs 5.9L 4) supposed to drive it like you stole it to keep the emissions cleaned 5) each reflash has decreased power – when I bought the truck it would put you back in the seat, now just a big station wagon 6) oil is black as coal immediately after change due to EGR pumping soot back into intake 7) regens – supposed to drive 45 minutes > 45mph when the truck tells you to not when you tell the truck you are ready to do so….my overhead message said 80% full, before I could get out of the neighbor hood it was 90% —hope I can get to the hwy
turbo worry $2k item, 4hrs labor just to clean it and replace @ 20k miles??? 9) time in shop 10) TPMS – the tire pressure monitoring system is way too sensitive – that light comes on all the time and is a pain to reset – getting TPMS control module next week as well.
WHAT TO DO????? take huge $ hit & buy a Tundra? modify the truck emissions break the rules & void the warranty???? Keep the warranty be missarable & go to the shop every few weeks??? Only comments I’ve seen where owner didn’t have alot of problems was where they used the truck only to haul heavy & on the hwy all the time or deleted the emissions. Tough decisions.

I am the frustrated owner of a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins. Like the rest of you on this board my truck has been in the shop so many times with the check engine light that when I pull it into the dealership everyone runs to go get coffee in the back leaving what ever new employee at the counter to here my complaints. I have been given case numbers from Chrysler several times and have been told buy them to work with the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. The dealership Quality Dodge, has graciously offered to take the truck as a trade in on a new truck offering me only the trade in value, thus tacking the upside down price onto the new one. OR they told me I could lift it put some bigger tires on it and try to sell it to some kid. None of these options has given me any customer satisfaction. The most frustrating thing about this whole mess is that when the dealership took delivery on the vehicle Chrysler was paid, when I bought the truck the dealership was paid, the bank that gave me the lone expects its money back from me! Thus I go to work to make the truck payment, and have taxes taken from my check to save the company from going out of business because they do not stand behind there products. In conclusion I needed to buy a car so I could get back and forth to work while my cool truck was at the dealership resting on the lot most of the time. I got me a used 2000 KIA Sophia several months after I got the truck it had 98000 miles on it at purchase it now has 130000+ miles on it. I buy it gas once a week and oil every 3000 miles it has never been in a shop. If it could only pull my 30’ travel trailer whit it I would gladly give the truck back to Chrysler and call it good. Contact me at Rockman1964@yahoo.com I would love to be a part of any lawsuit.

I am currently in the process of seeking legal counsel regaridng my ’08 3500. It has been in the shop starting at 9500 miles for the check engine light which they said was becuase of the o2 sensors. It has subsequently been in the shop 9 times more for the check engine light, loss of power, EGR problems – which includes desooting and particulate filter issues. The truck is currently in the shop and they are now telling us it’s the fuel we buy! So I guess Shell, Valero and Cheveron all sell bad fuel – this is the only diesel we buy. If anyone has hired an attorney, please let me know because we don’t know what do at this point because Dodge is no longer taking responsibility.

I have a 08 1 ton 4×4 mega cab dually and it has 45,000 miles. Been in shop twice(which sounds better than many others). Engine light coming on then going off after driving for a couple of hours. Very dissappointed in Dodge. Have owned several dodge diesel pickups and think they keep getting worse and worse. When pickup is running right it is a powerhouse though. Frontend is what bothers me most on this pickup. It pulls hard right and shimmies when I hit a bump sometimes. New tires didn’t fix problem and dodge says it can’t do a frontend alignment on this pickup. No wonder Dodge had to be bailed out.

I posted a comment on 9/10 about my ’08 3500 here is an update. Chrysler is now saying that the problems with the truck is now caused by the fuel we purchased. They claim that they took several samples throughout the fuel line and the gas we bought has dirt in it. What this means is now they are not responsible for the repairs so we just need to call our insurance company. They are accusing Chevron of selling bad diesel. When I asked for the results of the test, I was told that Chrysler does not allow them give us this information. The repairs total over 6K. At this point we are going to seek legal counsel because we are not getting the results we need from Chrysler. I have filed under the Texas Lemon Law – I am just waiting for a response from TXDOT. If anyone wants to contact me please do so at I am not giving up ~ we have too much money invested into this vehicle.

Im just gonna say that everything in this post is true with my 2008 6.7 I have had 4 turbos replaced 6 egr valves replaced and just about everything else under the hood you can think of replaced at least once. I am in the process of trying to get it bought back but it dosent seem to be going my way. everyone runs the other way when i come in because they all know me. I am a fire fighter in the lasvegas area and have a very reputable attorney looking into all aspects of this Id love to have anyone else with these issues email me so I can forward them to the attorney to see what can be done. Its hard to believe that a company is allowed to continue to put out a product that is as big a piece of shit as these trucks are. It has to be costing them millions to fix them, thats probably why our tax dollars are going to bail them out. Its sad that the customer has to be the one that gets put out. my email address is emt2p@aol.com hopefully there can be some sort of resolution to this problem.

Hello Everyone,
I’m not going to bother you all with the SAME IDENTICAL problems you all are having! I have an ’07 2500 with a 6.7 litre. Same old… I, too, was given the same “run it like you stole it…” Yeah? Who’s buying the tires and paying the tickets? I just spent $213 on anaccerlerator positioning pedal, and another $4630 on an a/c compressor and… a shiny new DPF. I like the truck – great power, lousy fuel economy. I, too, use my truck for work (I haul light weight boats and campers), so I guess I’m screwed too. I bought it at 105,000 miles, and it now just turned 120,000 miles – to celebrate, the junk greeted me with “Service NOW, See Dealer, Maintenance required…” and this time, not 4 but 5 fault codes!!! Yipee!
I live in Florida. I would like to hear from others about going after them in court. I expect soon to see commercials on TV – “If you have a Dodge, our lawfirm may be able to help…” What did we buy? Mesothelioma or a truck?
I’m not out for early retirement here folks. I only want a truck that works as we were told. My humor is the best I can do to keep from crying.
If you all are going to persue this, count me in PLEASE. My email is , and my cell phone is (941) 815-1060.
Anyone know of any good deals with Chevy or Ford???
Pissed in Florida,
Rob

Sorry – I forgot to add: My mechanic in Texas (a GREAT guy – came highly reccommended) told me that PERHAPS it is a spike or drop in the ECM control harness. He said the computer is too sensative. After I get codes, he told me to reset with the ignition key, open the hood, and shake the wiring harness along the top of the firewall, and to actually “smack, punch or hit” the fuse box below the wiring harness and to the right.
Whatever… But it does seem to work, at least on my truck. The thought is is that the computer picks up and digests so much information, a miniscule temporary short causes the ECM to believe something is amiss, and derates the engine to protect itself. Plausible? Sure. Bullshit? Absolutely – BS that we need to do this to get the thing to run. My contact info is above – if I can be of help, or you’d like me to join the lawsuit, please use it.
Best wishes to you all.

I have the 6.7 and have had nothing but problems. The engine light has been on for over 13,900 of the 14,000 miles. The turbo has been replace the EGR has been replaced and a few other things. Dodge cannot seem to fix the problem. I use my pickup for work and get paid for mileage on it. Dodge is cutting into my pocket book with the down time when it is in the shop. I would’ not b so upset if thre was a solution, my service department say’s there is no more that can be done.
Comment by Ken — 09/21/2009 @ 6:00 pm
We have a 2008 2500 diesel and have had it in the shop 7 times for EGR related issues. In January 2009 we where informed that we got “bad fuel” and had to replace the entire fuel system in order to keep the warranty. $18,00.00 later and we are still having problems. Even though we now only put fuel in a new outside tank with a 10 micron filter attached, we had to replace the lift pump for $1000.00 because there was debris clogging it.
Please keep us informed of any action that we can participate in. This is our 3rd Dodge truck and the 1991 (800,000 miles) and 2000 (400,000) are still running great.

I have had the truck in three times, twice they cleaned the carbon out, once they replaced the turbo. Less then 35K on the truck and again the engine light came on and as predicted, the turbo boost is acting up again. I am having it fixed but I am also starting the process to get a new vehicle out of them, not that I really want a CHYSLER (That pronounced CHISSLER, it’s not mispelled). 50K worth of junk. Ford or GM here I come!!!

I bought a 3500 4×4 07′ four door and it has been worked on by the Dodge dealers in my area at least five times. It has had a new turbo at least once and it is now proud of it self to have made it 42,000 miles. That might be a record for these trucks. It is constantly in need of catalytic converter being cleaned. At present it wont even idle for more than a few seconds. It was reprogramed at the dealership and then in two days the computer burned up. and I do mean burned up. It melted a hole in the side of the TMI module fo course costing me 580.00 that was not covered. Amazing, It is hard to believe that a company can get away with such a string of real lemons and be allowed by our governmenrt to pass theyre problems shamelessly on to theyre loyal customers.
I like many of you have been told that I could not idle the truck for any length of time and that is was best not to drive slow because it would not clean itself out properly unless driven hard. Is this not the same as an admision of a fualty product? There has to be something that can be done about this. I rely on my truck to make a living and therefore in most states can’t file Lemon Law action against Dodge. I would trade it in on a used Chevy any day.
It takes real arrogance to stand in the face of the American People and say “sucks to be you sorry cant help you” but that is what Dodge is doing. Simply as a matter of principal we should get a Class action Lawsuit going to stop this. I would be very curious to find out how many Dodge executives and employees actually have these same problems and what has been done about it for them?

I have had all of the above sence 2007 with my 3500 6.7. I keep fuel filter, oil, and air filter changed before time. Have had turbo buster(s) Catylis replace because of 100% cloge you name it I’ve had it time and time over. Check engine light I have ecepted as part of tuck. went in 3 months ago said had to keep few days could not get reading on light. It is still on and off 20000 miles later. I’m not going back for that. Lawer got me $3000.00 to get extended warranty or down payment on new truck. I have 87000 now and hoping when time comes I will have enough if something goes out. My miles have got better the past few months. Looking hard at trans though.

If your state has a Lemon Law file ASAP. We are VERY happy with our resolution. We filed with TXDOT 4 weeks ago and we are now in a new truck and it’s NOT a Dodge. If you reside in Texas, it’s a very easy and inexpensive process. We are glad to be rid of our LEMON.

We also no longer own the 2007 6.7 liter nightmare that Dodge calls a vehicle. We sold it to a wholesale dealer, ate the money we owed the bank, and walked away from that nightmare. We bought a Ford F250—maybe now we will stay out of the shop!!! Good luck to rest of you all trying to fight it out with Chrysler.

2007 Dodge 2500 4×4 MegaCab Cummins 6.7 – purchased August ’07… 3 times in for recall;/turbo – exhaust filtration regen – Friday, Oct 9, engine light comes on; Exhaust system regenerating message; engine bogs, sputters quits… Chrysler towed to Tomball, Tx Dodge – Dealer calls Monday AM – New batteries needed; died trying to restart… replaced – checked over by mechanic – proposed possible fixes, new turbo, DPS? DPF? major work – quoted $12,000.00 – blamed clogged air filter for major catastrophic damage to truck… routine maintenance – 54K miles – no warning indicated until complete failure…
HELLO SCREWJOB… Going in this morning with Diesel machanic friend to tackle Service Mgr/Gen Mgr – technical jargin – absolutely ridiculous – financed $45K – they ask nearly 50% of now book value of truck to repair – warranty or buy back!!!

Bought my 3500 4×4 6.7 liter dually in March 08. I have had to go to the dealership at least 5 times. This is ridiculous. After reading about the similiar issues everyone else is having – I believe that there is no end to this. Dodge has no idea how to fix this or they would have done so. I was told today by a service tech that many 6.7 liter trucks are coming in because of issues with the egr valves needing to be replaced. when i go in tomorrow for another engine light, I will let them know I will be contacting a lawyer.

For those of you that are keeping your trucks and dont want any more problems contact me and I will tell you how to achive this. My email is on post #4.

I work at a dodge dealer in Texas that works almost exclusively on diesels. We have spent many many hours working on all these 6.7 problems. I can tell you that if the dealer knows what they are doing you can make this check engine light problem go away. The problem is they are not finding the root cause of the soot problem. We have designed a special diagnostic procedure that allows for a more thorough examination of the soot issue and gets to the actual cause of the problem. We have dozens and dozens of 6.7′s on the road and drivers happy. If the check engine light is the only thing about the truck you dont like there are solutions. Contact Chrysler or find a dealer that does a lot of diesel.

follow- up to previous post
I dont see anyone talking about replacing crankcase filters. This filter gets saturated with oil if the oil is overfilled when the oil is changed. (most quick-lube shops overfill) instant soot problem.
I have seen people talking about 10 micron filters???? the injectors are only 4 microns. The original filter has been updated to a 5 micron filter. If you are in a dusty area a secondary filter may be needed.
Has anyone been told about the vents on the fuel tanks? Theses get clogged with dirt and cause check engine light problems.
There are anumber of things that need to be check to ensure that the check engine light wont come on. Sorry to say some dealers dont have the experience to catch them.

I own 2 dodges, 5.9 and 6.7L. The 5.9 is awesome, with 55k miles on it, never been in the shop once. The 07 which is the 6.7 has 60k miles and has been in the shop 5 times. Everytime we take it it has emission problems that are very costly. Before the dealer will perform any warranty work, they rack up bills for normal maintenance for 400.00+. Their excuse for this is Chrysler will not honor the warranty work if they don’t have proof of current general maintenance. First of all, I change my oil on time and replace all my filters as recommended. This doesn’t matter to the dealer. The dealer replaced the ccv in January 09 and now wants to replace it again. This part is warranted for 60k miles. They want me to pay 160.00 to have it changed. The dealer has said the fuel tank relief valve is defective which has let sand and debris into the fuel system. This is covered by warranty but it has led to numerous other problems such as the catalyst becoming fuel, soot build up in the turbo charger, oil blowing back clear into the air filter and of course a clogged fuel filter. The dealership before said they can fix this problem, but I have to fork over 400.00 before they will provide the warranty work. I am in the process of filing Lemon Law paper work with TXDOT and sending a certified letter to Chrysler.
PS. This truck has completely quit running on us on 2 out of town episodes. The last episode the overhead readout said Catalyst fuel 90% then about 1 minute later it said 100% full, system will lose power. We were on the freeway about 60 miles away from home with a baby on board. We babied this truck home and by the grace of GOD, finally got home! We have also had to replace both the batteries and have had to replace the steering damper because of front end wobble. The dealer refused to own up to this and with a baby we had to replace this 800.00 repair out of our pocket. We are tired of shelling out money for this truck and more importantly we shouldn’t have to. This is a megacab 50,000 Laramie, loaded. I’m praying for a class action law suit because Chyryser and their dealers are knowingly performing criminal fraud on customers each and every day. We are going thru the process but we sadly anticipate having to use seek private legalized help. Our email is Missioks@aol.com if you need to reach us for any problems you may be having. Everyone needs to stick together and fight the fight!!

Anyone have problems with u-joints? 45,000 miles on my 08 that I bought last Oct. Been in the shop 8 times, same issues as as everyone else. I have also just had the rear u-joint and both front axle u-joint replaced and still have a really bad vibration. This truck is my work horse, I need it to perform for me everyday and it dosent. What really sucks is i traded an 05 ford f250 with the 6.0l diesel, in for this new dodge because I was having so many problems with it. Dodge is no better. I will be looking into the Michigan lemon law. This is rediculous!

Is anyone listening?????? We can fix the 6.7 check engine light problems. There is not one thing talked about on this blog that can’t be fixed. If you all will get with a Dodge dealer that works on a lot of diesel everything can be fixed.
Emission filter get clogged because quick lube places overfill the engine oil.
If the fuel is contaminated because the fuel tank vent hoses are missing or clogged it can be covered under warranty.
If all the filters are mopar and you have water in your fuel it can be covered.
There are dealers all over that just dont want to deal with these issues. If you find a dealer that does mostly diesel trucks these things will get fixed.

Mr. Ramsey I contacted Chrysler and was told they stand behind their Dealer! As a last resort the truck was towed to a independant repair shop on Oct. 30th. I received a call Nov. 2 and was told my truck was fixed at a cost of $950, which is alot less than the $18,000 the Dealer quoted!
The Mechanic stated I had a bad injector and in his opinion should have been covered and that it was not bad fuel but a bad injector.I again called Chrysler and explained the problem and was denied again! Now my so called warranty is void and I am out of $950 dollars. I am in the process of trying to get rid of this junk and purchase a used Ford.I will never buy a product from Chrysler again and this was the 3rd Dodge truck I have owned—so much for loyalty!I also have not even received a call back from the Dealer after I was told they would call back( Columbus Texas). This whole experience has been a nightmare and I handled it as professionally as possible!

Where are these dealers?? I live in Cleburne Tx, LoneStar Dodge has had mine in their shop 5 times now. Everytime we drive our truck out of their shop, the check engine light pops back on. They charge frivilous charges everytime like filters etc. They tell us, Chrysler wont cover any warranty work unless they sell filters. I think LoneStar loves the 6.7 lemons because they are making a killing off customers selling their maintenance. It’s very apparanent this dodge dealership needs to do their homework on diesels and Chyrslers warranties. Can you say CRIMINAL ACTIVITY??

Bought 2008 3500 6.7 diesel. I have not had the engine lights or clogged PDF. I have 11000 miles on it and last week the truck started rapping and all power went away with plum of smoke out exhaust. Had it towed to dealer after two hours(after Crysler service got address wrong where I was broke down) and they are now saying it may not be under warranty as it has AIRAID cold air intake. The warranty guy has to look at it. I did have cutting out issue but not to where truck would stall. Funny how it has been to other delares and they never mentioned this intake voiding warranty. I have had four 5.9′s since 97 and never any problems like this. If I would have known about the issues I would have bought an old Ford 7.3 diesel.
Any comments would help.

I too bought a 6.7L diesal 2500, and it ran well until 8000 miles. My check engine light came on, and electronic fuel control light came on. It then died, and road side assistance was called. I drained the water fuel separator, although the light was not on. Finally got the truck started, drove it 10 more miles, then it died again. Road side assistance was called again, and it was then carried to the dodge dealership I did not purchase it from, although the dealership I purchased it from was closer. They now tell me I owe them $11000 for repairs because my fuel was contaminated with water and my fuel rails were rusted. Answer me this, how does aluminum fuel rails rust? I am very unhappy. I have lost my job and put my family in a big bind because I have no transportation to work. Thanks dodge. Can anyone help me please?

I have 12 of these trucks from year 07 to 08. We run them as work trucks and rack up the miles. approx 100k to 150k year. We have come across all of the above issues starting with U-joints, then Turbos, then DPF filters, and now fuel system. U-joints are cheap, turbos can be rebuilt for less than $500.00, DPF delete kit can be purchased for less than $1000.00 to include sensor kit to keep lights off dash, now, for the injectors, Dodge wants 2 grand an injector but you can buy a whole set for 2 grand aftermarket and then get a 1200.00 rebate when you send back the old injectors. you can google the parts needed and find them significantly cheaper than dodge is wanting to charge you for them. Dodge quoted 3300 for dpf and we fixed it for less than a third of that and had no problems since and have gained fuel mileage. (ended up putting DPF delete kits on all trucks just to save the trouble and down time) Dodge quoted 20,000.00 for injector repair per truck (x3=60k), we fixed it for less than 4k. Considering we use our trucks for work purposes we would be losing a significant amount of money on down time. I am irrate with all the recent, about the last 5 years, problems with all of the heavier duty trucks regardless of the manufacturer. Is there anyone out there that makes a decent truck? Please let me know as I am in the market for about 12 more.

I just got off the highway traveling at 70 mph! how the hell am I going to regen in the middle of the woods! To whom it may concern,
I would like to join your lawsuit against Dodge, even though I no longer own the pickup that caused me so much grief. In the process of ridding myself of the troubles that Dodge caused, I lost all of my $15,000.00 dollars of equity that I had going into the purchase and then some. I paid around $47,000.00 for my 2007, 3500 quad cab, 6.7 liter diesel truck and after having it for only 10 months and enduring all the troubles that the truck had, I was only given $28,000.00 by the same dealer for it in trade on a Dodge Hemi, 2500, quad cab truck, that I wound up having to get rid of 10 month later after only putting 3,000 miles on it because it didn’t have enough power to pull my camp trailer up a hill. I lost an additional $7,000 on that deal. Dodge, along with Frontier motors did wind up giving me a $4,500 trade-in assistance, which was a little help, but not enough to make me ever want to purchase another Dodge product.
The troubles started right at 2,000 miles when the particulate filter became plugged. Dodge said I needed to bring the truck in to have them clean out the filter. It happened again 85 miles later. They had me bring it back in and they did some reprogramming, but that only made my fuel mileage drop to somewhere in the 7 to 10 mpg range, which was ridiculous considering that I have had 5 diesel trucks prior to that one and never got less than 17 mpg in any of them. I paid a lot of money for that truck and couldn’t afford to drive it, even though they kept telling me that I would have to put some miles on it to get good mileage. After bringing it back to the shop several times more, they started blaming in on the fuel that I was using and also on my driving style, which has never changed since I began driving diesel trucks in 1993. They even gave me a DVD showing me how you are supposed to drive the new truck, which if I had seen prior to purchasing it, I would have kept my old truck and never bought the 6.7 liter truck at all.
I now own a 2006 Ford F-350 crew cab 6 liter diesel and have not had any troubles, in fact I am getting between 16 and 24 mpg. I’m sure that every manufacturer has had some troubles with the new 2010 emission standards, but I feel that Dodge really messed up and don’t know how to fix it, at least they couldn’t fix it for me and I would really like to recoup some of my losses.
Sincerely,
Jack Aldrich

I havent checked this blog for awhile but it seems that ya’ll are still having trouble finding someone that can keep your 6.7′s free of CEL problems. If anyone wants to get their 6.7 fixed contact me. I’ll connect you with a dealer that can fix it. If you are in Texas I’ll fix it myself. Or…..you can continue to spend money on useless repairs and whine about it.
And remember this…the whole diesel engine market has changed since the federal government started requiring all this DPF crap. The 6.7 is a monster of a puller, but at the same time the feds turned it into a delicate little flower. If you take care of a few things it will work better than anything else out there.

Hey POPS, there is no legal way to fix a Lemon 6.7 diesel truck.Class action lawsuits can take years to settle, this is what Dodge wants you to do; class action! Then your warranty will be over. I have contacted a Lemon law attorney in my home state and Dodge company will be the loser for selling a defective product. You can run straight pipe out the back and live with the codes. I have 08 6.7 diesel. never owned a diesel before, always bought Ford pick-ups. 1st 2500 miles light comes on truck jerking forward when coming to a stop, took to dealer they blame it on new emmisions, light comes back on around 400 miles later, back to dealer says probably will need to clean some kind of filter they fix it and tell me to run it hard for about 30 to 45 miles every once in awhile it should help, 500 miles later comes back on, i drive it faster and open it up an “presto” light goes out but i get a $85 speeding ticket. so light comes on every 2000 or 4000 miles. i pick the speed up and it goes away. i now have 62000 miles and the fuel mileage is about 16. i put a tennaeu cover on and it gets around 18 or 19. i LOVE this truck its awesome. i havent changed the air filter yet ( any good ones ) reccomended would be appreciated.

Hey Pops Ramsey, how can I contact you? I have a 08 Mega with 27,000 mi. It has been in the shop 15 days in January for DPF issues, they said they had to put a new filter on it. I live in Amarillo, I dont know if they know the proper ways to fix the truck like you said. I love my truck, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to trade it in on a gas (don’t want to, but can’t have it in the shop nonstop). The shop is Allstar Dodge Amarillo Tx. call them and share your knowledge before I give up and sell my truck. I’m thinking of keeping it till the waranty goes out, but I’m afraid it will crap out on me before I can get rid of it. I’m also thinking of putting a delete on it after the waranty goes out, I dont know, I just feel betrade by Dodge.

I forced Dodge to do something about my many turbos, egrs, egr sensor, heat sensors, loss of use, etc. What good is a pu you can’t drive like a pu? I drive a lot of hunting season miles, Fishing etc. Keep all your work orders and repairs. I finally contacted a non Dodge representitive and the Dodge mechanic was instructed direct from Dodge how to solve my problems; step by step. I also found a Lemon law expert lawyer in my state and am waiting for Dodges answer. I have had my dodge 19 months and I have had emision problems ever since. I have heard that an average compensation is approx. $5,500 up to $12 k. Anyone wishing to shut off check engine light it is simple; turn ignition to on only, do not start; leave trans in Park or neutural (stick) slowly press fuel pedal to the floor 3 slow times shut of ignition; this will erase the check engine till next time. I have the super improved turbo, replaced DPF, temp sensor, exh sensor, numerous clean outs etc. regenerations all within 22,000 miles. In my state you can’t sue the dealer (too bad) you have to sue Dodge. Dodge then haggels with lemon law attorney to come up to a figure to compensate buyer. I will not buy another Doged PU again. Ford has an injection system that detects plug ups and then squirts a special cleaner into the intake valves to regen. Neat, HUH? One problem, when this cleaning liquid runs out it is $1500 to the consumer!

Pops, you could be a very rich man if your statements are correct. There are thousands of upset owners. Have you heard of an exhaust stock additive that is suppose to clean out DPF on back for the 2010s? It is a Ford and GM answer to plugged O2 sensors,DPF sensor etc. My car lady stated that it costs @ $1500 to refill when empty, I thought that sounded absurd so I called the Ford GM dealer mech close to home and he stated it is a phase in mandate to detect egr, sensor back ups, O2, etc that squirts into the exhaust to unplug cat, DPF etc. He said total cost of the fluid that does run out over time is,,$38 and some change to refill.

Most problems with new Dodge trucks (6.7 L engines) the due to excessive idling–that means all idling. All older diesels can idle all day or all ight long but that will clog the DPF and cause other issues as many have found out. I have an 07 3500 dually with almost 70K and I have had an EGR valve replace, and the exhaust and EGR from the turbo back to the muffler replaced–all under warranty. The poor mileage is partially due to the regens and the more you idle the more regns will occur. I get about 14.7 mpg city and highway. When driving in town or stuck in traffic I often drop to a lower gear or go to neutral and hold the rpm about 1200-1300 to facilitate the regens. I also added the EGT guage so I can see when the regens are occuring. The bigg trucks using the DPFs have the same problems so they added the auxiliary APUs for power, heat and AC when the trucks are in rest areas instead of running the big diesels. Chevy and FOrd have problems with their pollution devices also–just different problems.
Good luck suing Dodge after their backruptcy on pre 2010 models.

If you live in an area where there is no emissions testing, then find an after market shop to get rid of the cat, the particulate filter, the egr cooler as soon as the warranty is up. They should have a way of dealing with the check engine light also. Keep the old cat, particulate filter and egr cooler, throw it in a corner in your garage, just in case they start doing emissions testing, and you have to get it reinstalled. Next time buy a gas.

I have a 07 6.7, with 50000 miles on it. about 10,000 ago i had taken it in for a g30 recall. A week later my truck started to misfire and back fire at highway speeds once in a while. Now that i have paid attention to the issue it happens about every 3-400 miles. I will backfire/pop a couple time then all is well for another few hundred miles.
I took it to a dealer in oakdale ca. i told the it only happens every so many miles and that they need to drive it some. when i pick up they had drove 3 miles and that there is nothing wrong with my truck. They asked if i can drive till check eng light comes on because they dont no were to start. So i had purchased a exhuast temp guage. Everytime the temps would go above 1300 it would start to act up. I figured out it was the dpf cleaning its self. I removed my dpf with some after market parts and the problem is now gone. I would like to get this fixed but now i am afriad that the dealr will tell me that my warninty is now voided and that i would to pay to fix. Also my gas milage went from 15 to 20 a gallon. After i removed the dpf. I souldnt have to research and fix my truck my self. i thought that what the dealer was for. I really would like to get this fixed i just dont trust my truck. I am all for the dpf on my truck if it would work .

Own a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 with 34000 miles. Truck just recently lost power. Took it to the dealership and they tell me that there are metal shavings in the TURBO. This voids the warranty is what they told me. Now I have to fork up 2000.00 approx. to get the turbo replaced. Anyone have any similar issues?

Bought a NEW 2011 Dodge Durango in Aug. and has been in the 5 times now! First time it did not start, 2nd time did not start, 3rd time window wipers came on, check engine light on, rpm’s going crazy, speedometer going crazy, was in shop for 22 days 3rd time in, 4th time going down interstate 70 mph an hour and window wipers come on, all engine lights on, had to pull over on busy interstate, 4th time in was 23 days, got it back and they swore they had it fixed, after the 3 days home, same thing. Now 5th time in it’s still there and I have contact Chrysler and they wanted to give me a $5,000 allowance to trade it in, and me take a $10,000 loss. I told them no way, so I contacted a lawyer and we are now in the process of Chrysler buying back the vehicle, well see how that goes. It’s too bad Chrysler does not stand behind their product and fix the problem or replace the vehicle without having to hire an attorney! I will NEVER buy a Chrysler product again! Chrysler does not stand behind their product!
